I honestly feel that my words cannot fully express how saddened/hurt I have felt recently by the killings of George Floyd, Ahmed Arbery and Breonna Taylor. What hurts more is that there have been so many others that have had their lives taken because of the colour of their skin. I do not need to have known them personally, to “feel” some sort of way about their deaths. I honestly keep thinking to myself, that could have been someone in my family or someone that I knew that could have had their lives cut short in the same way.
This is why it disturbs me to see how people from various walks of life have responded. I have seen people use their platforms, social media and their faith to imply that the mass upset regarding the killings is destructive and a “distraction”. I do not understand how these type of words (which I personally find very insensitive) can be uttered. I have heard more negative words used, which I will not repeat.
My hope is that more people, regardless of who they are, will look beyond their own “bubble” and consider the families, friends, etc of those that have had their loved ones taken from them. Maybe, its not your opinions/views that are needed during this time, maybe its just your support. Perhaps, that’s when healing can truly begin……
My deepest condolences to the families of George Floyd, Ahmed Arbery, Breonna Taylor and so many others who I pray will not be forgotten.

I’m left with very few words, except justice needs to prevail.

Justice needs to prevail, indeed!
